Be a Manager in Your Classroom!

HOW TO BE A GOOD "MANAGER" IN YOUR  CLASSROOM?

  1. Prepared all the things well
Before going to the class, make sure all of the materials are ready to use. Here’re the materials during my teaching practice.
Note: there’re powerpoint slides and video as well.

Besides preparing the material, master the lesson of subject matter that’s going to teach is a must! As the student-teacher I should understand about the concepts, tools of inquiry so I could create the meaningful  learning for the students.

  1. Get to know each students’ characters
Every students have their own characteristics. Everybody is special and uniq in their own way. So it’s important to know their characteristic. It helped me to understand how the students differ in their approaches to learn.

Not all the students have same style to catch the lesson. As your know there’re 3 types of learning style : audio, visual, and kinesthetic. So in delivering method I used the learning material that be a representative of the 3 styles. Flashcards or power point slide for visual,  story telling or have a dialogue by hand puppet for audio, and playing a game for kinesthetic.

  1. Develop good relation with the students
I used a variety of instructional strategies (asking some critical questions, used technology like power-point slides, interactive material) to encourage the students’ development of critical thinking, problem solving, and performance skills.

As the student teacher you’ve to assume the instructions to a particular activity tasked clearly. So, please use effective verban an non verbal communication techniques as well. Intonation and articulation must be clearly heared by them.

Besides that, give them some feedback for what they’ve done it’s a must.

  1. Keep the eyes on my students
Pay attention to what the students doing in the class is the teacher’s responsibility. To manage a situation in the class, silent signaling is a plus.  It’s the way to make the students stop making a noise and doing other thing. As I said before, I used TPR methods, gestures  to attract the students’ attention

  1. Praise the students
Give an appreciation when the students are doing a great job. It may be by giving a reward like stars, clapping hands or verbal statements like “It’s great, dear! Keep it up!” give a positive statements even though they’re doing wrong. Don’t ever judge a student harshly. Keep saying positive in different way.

  1. Set up the classroom rules; discipline
Before I started the lesson, i made some deal(rules) with my students. The examples : don’t shouting, ask a permission if they wanna go to CR (comfort room a.k.a bathroom),the ones who can answer the question will get stars, the ones who doesn’t pay attention will get a minus, etc. you may develop the other rules that can make a learning process going to be affective and efficient.

The last is teaching with enthusiasm, positive outlook, patience, and wisely

Have a nice try:)

Best Regards,
